What are main types of Communication?
There
are three basic types of communication:
1.
Verbal
Communication:
Verbal
communication involves the use of words in your message.Verbal communication makes the process of
conveying thoughts easier and faster, and it remains the most successful form
of communication.
The
two major forms of verbal communication are as follows:
a.Written communication: In this communication traditional pen and paper letters and typed documents, email, text chats and anything else conveyed through written
symbols. This type of communication is essential for formal
business communications and issuing legal instructions.
Communication forms
that include handbooks, brochures, memos, press releases, formal business proposals, etc.
b.Oral
Communication: The
other form of verbal communication is the spoken word, dialogues, either face-to-face or phone calls,video conferencing or any other things. Oral communication finds use in discussions and causal and
informal conversations. The effectiveness of oral conversations depends on the
clarity of speech, voice, pitch, volume, speed, and even non-verbal
communications such as body language and visual cues.
2.
Nonverbal
Communication:
Nonverbal
communication includes sending and receiving wordless messages.
These messages can also convey
thoughts and feelings on their own. Physical
nonverbal communication, or body language, consists of facial expressions, eye
contact, body posture, gestures , pointing finger and the like, body movements, tone of voice, touch, and others. Facial
expressions are the most common among all nonverbal communication. For
instance, a smile or a frown conveys distinct emotions hard to express through
verbal communication.
3. Para language:
The
way something is said, and this type is an important
component of nonverbal communication. This is consists of voice quality, intonation,
pitch, stress, emotion, tone, and style of speaking, and l,
interest or the lack of it etc.
